VINEYARD NOTES

The Monarch Pinot Noir is a tribute to our diverse vineyards in Sonoma County. Named in honor of the delicate yet resilient Monarch butterfly, it showcases the best barrel selections of our six estate vineyards, each contributing its unique terroir to create a blend of elegance and depth. Thoughtfully crafted by our winemaking team, this wine delivers a harmonious and captivating expression of pinot noir.

VINTAGE NOTES

The 2023 vintage was defined by a wet winter, cool summer, long ripening, and stellar-quality fruit. Much-needed winter rains replenished Sonoma County’s soils and aquifers through early spring, followed by intermittent frost that caused some stunting and uneven growth, though significant damage was avoided. A late but beautiful spring saw grapevines flourish on a delayed schedule. Summer remained cool, slowing maturation despite good fruit set and crop load, while the season ended with cycles of 90+ degree heat and measurable rain over four weeks. Careful canopy management and fruit thinning extended harvest into late October, ultimately yielding exceptional fruit that transformed weather challenges into opportunities for quality.

TASTING NOTES

The 2023 vintage offers aromas of earthy Watmaugh strawberries and a delicate hint of cola and allspice. On the palate, this medium-bodied wine reveals a vibrant interplay of dried herbs and spicy notes, balanced by a focus on bright red fruit. Fine-grained, silky tannins provide structure and a refined and satisfying finish.
