2019 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir

2019 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir

The Russian River Valley is a haven for pinot noir. This wine comes from the cooler areas of Sebastopol and Occidental, northwest of the town of Sonoma. Bob honed his craft in the famous Goldridge soils of Russian River Valley and this wine exemplifies the passion and expertise that goes into its meticulous creation. This region is marked by early morning fog migrating inland from the Pacific Ocean, dissipating mid-day to allow sunlight and warmth on the vines, before returning around dusk. This extraordinary shift happens in very few places in the world and produces luscious fruit that shines in the glass, culminating in a bright and lively wine.

On the nose, you’ll discover hibiscus, cranberry, and fresh clove. Silky tannins seduce your palate, complemented by notes of toasted pie crust and ripe cherry, making this a quintessential example of Russian River Valley Pinot Noir.

More Information
The 2019 vintage made a memorable entrance, with much-needed rainfall, allowing the earth to recover and heal from previous dry years. The vines awoke from their winter slumber and transitioned into a cool spring, giving us the chance to enjoy a mild and uneventful budding season. As fruit matured, the temperate conditions allowed the flowering to set at an even pace as we continued to experience cool temperatures throughout the season. The grapes had a nice, slow development into veraison, intensifying flavors and giving us plenty of nuance to work with in the cellar. Our winemaking team perfectly captured the distinct characteristics of the 2019 vintage, allowing each of our estate vineyards to express each of their unique traits in the bottle. Because of the complexity and high yields of this vintage, we are excited for the tremendous quality and age-ability that it promises. While the 2018 and 2019 vintages had similar bounties and quality, the growing seasons couldn’t have been more different—the true blessing and mystique of Mother Nature.
