2019 Durell Vineyard Pinot Blanc

2019 Durell Vineyard Pinot Blanc

A rare, white grape mutation of pinot noir, our pinot blanc is radiant and refreshing through and through. These grapes are right at home planted in one of the cooler bowls of our much-loved estate vineyard, Durell, due to the chilly night breezes and elongated growing season perfectly suited for this unusual variety. This wine sees partial oak treatment, with the balance fermented and aged in stainless-steel barrels and a single, new Acacia barrel. Acacia highlights the bright floral notes of this wine and lends a softer tannin than the more common style found in French Oak.

In this bottling, we love the elegant flavors of white nectarine flower, crisp green apple, and slate-like minerality. As the most recent addition to our Durell Vineyard lineup, this brilliant wine is the perfect sip for springtime.

This wine has sold out. The 2020 vintage will be released in Spring 2022.

More Information
The 2019 vintage made a memorable entrance, with much-needed rainfall, allowing the earth to recover and heal from previous dry years. The vines awoke from their winter slumber and transitioned into a cool spring, giving us the chance to enjoy a mild and uneventful budding season. As fruit matured, the temperate conditions allowed the flowering to set at an even pace as we continued to experience cool temperatures throughout the season. The grapes had a nice, slow development into veraison, intensifying flavors and giving us plenty of nuance to work with in the cellar. Our winemaking team perfectly captured the distinct characteristics of the 2019 vintage, allowing each of our estate vineyards to express each of their unique traits in the bottle. Because of the complexity and high yields of this vintage, we are excited for the tremendous quality and age-ability that it promises. While the 2018 and 2019 vintages had similar bounties and quality, the growing seasons couldn’t have been more different—the true blessing and mystique of Mother Nature.
