VINEYARD NOTES
This wine holds a special place in our hearts, hailing from the birthplace of the Three Sticks story, our first vineyard, laying the foundation for our incredible collection of vineyards. Our original Heritage vineyard, Durell, is highly regarded throughout Sonoma, characterized by its diverse microclimates and rocky volcanic soils. This 610-acre vineyard, with 180 acres planted, is mainly chardonnay and pinot noir. Our vineyard spans the Sonoma Valley, Sonoma Coast, and Carneros AVAs and was first planted in the 1970s, making it an integral part of Sonoma’s history. Its reputation continues to shine through every grape and in every glass of wine.
VINTAGE NOTES
2018 was one of those magical years. The early growing season plodded along with a mild spring at a relatively normal pace. Once the berries set, we knew we had a healthy and full crop. So full, in fact, we did several fruit-thinning passes to reduce the load on the vines. Even with this, we were happy to see an above-average harvest with superb quality. We started picking in earnest after Labor Day, with cool fall weather allowing us to transfer the grapes calmly and measuredly. Overall, 2018 will be a year to remember with wines of true depth and power.
TASTING NOTES
The components of the various terroirs of the land combine into a rich, luxurious wine accented by lime and slate minerality. With additional notes of honey-lemon meringue, shortbread, and yellow apple, this is a mouthwatering vintage that is best described as a ray of sunshine in your glass.
