2013 Moon Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon

2013 Moon Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon

With blackberries, dark chocolate and cassis on the nose, this wine invites you in with warmth and opulence.  The smaller berries from these mountain sites create an inky dark color and big chewy tannins.  Some bramble, vanilla and cedar box come through in the long and rich finish.

The 2013 growing season was close to perfection.  All phases of the growing cycle - flowering, set, veraison and ripening were very even and uniform.  With a relatively sunny spring, the grapes started their cycle early and we ended up harvesting grapes a couple of weeks earlier than normal.  The season was dry and warm but not hot - which allowed the grapes to develop at an optimum rate.  It is rare for us to get a perfect growing season but we struck gold in 2013.  The wines are lucious and rich and look to be standouts in this decade.
