Durell Vineyard plays an important role in California’s wine history, having produced more than 1,000 wines exceeding 90 points throughout its 45-year legacy. Initially known for chardonnay, it is easy to grasp what the praise is about after tasting wines from this remarkable site.

Named for Bill and Eva’s youngest daughter, Alana Vineyard is one of our two Russian River Valley sites, nestled among the majestic California redwoods. There is only a tiny block of chardonnay planted at this property and the clusters themselves are very small, resulting in grapes full of flavor and packed with intensity.

Durell has a 45-year long history of producing some of California’s most revered pinot noirs and chardonnays. We are proud to call this site our home ranch, and the birthplace of Three Sticks.

Our estate vineyard, Gap’s Crown, is regarded by fans and critics as one of the most famous pinot noir and chardonnay vineyards in California. The site’s unique western-facing slope, superior drainage, and heavy wind and fog influences from the Petaluma Gap and San Pablo Bay result in world-class wine.

Perched high in the northwestern Sonoma Coast, six miles from the rugged Pacific Ocean coastline, Walala is the most isolated of our estate vineyards. This property is surrounded by 19,000 acres of redwoods and named for the Kashaya Pomo Indian saying, “where the water flows down,” a reference to the local Gualala River and Gualala.

Located in the cool Green Valley sub-appellation of the Russian River Valley, our William James Vineyard was previously home to a Gravenstein apple orchard. Colloquial wisdom states that fertile apple soil is perfect for pinot noir.
